Best Age to Visit
People often ask when is the best time to visit the orthodontist. There is no right answer because every child is different. For this reason it is recommended that you visit us for an assessment as early as 7-8 years of age. At this early age we are able to pick up small problems before they become an issue – sometimes no treatment is required at all. To encourage early assessment of your child we only charge for their initial consult. We continue to review your child free of charge until we are ready to treat them.
This monitoring period allows us to intervene at the best time rather than leaving it to chance. It also allows your child to build confidence in us before we start treatment.
Alternatively, your dentist may be able to direct you as to the best time to visit. If you are unsure feel free to contact us as no referral is needed to see a specialist orthodontist at MyOrtho.
What to Expect
On your first visit, you’ll meet with your specialist orthodontist, David, Emily or Chris. First and foremost, they will make you feel at ease by answering your questions and dispelling any myths. After a comprehensive assessment of your individual needs – or those of your child – a preliminary recommendation will be made on the course of treatment.
At the appointment, records will be taken using our in-house, state-of-the-art photography and digital radiographic equipment. You’ll leave your first appointment with everything you need to make an informed decision on how to proceed.
If you are ready to proceed with treatment we are happy to discuss our affordable interest free payment plans. These are flexible arrangements that allow for monthly repayments to extend the length of your treatment after an initial deposit is placed.
